Congrats to the Robotic Rhinos, Salem Montessori's FLL team, on a great season! They won first place in Martinsville, and had a great showing at the State Championship in Harrisonburg in December. Their EV3 robot scored 110 points in the robot game, which required careful building and programming.

The robot and the trophies
It’s not just the robot! FLL teams develop a project related to this year’s theme, which was human water use. The team focused on the problem of soil salinization. Their proposed solution for this problem was to graft sensitive plants onto salt-resistant rootstock. We grafted plants, toured water treatment plants and a hydroelectric dam, and interviewed experts in person and over Skype.

Helping out is what we do!

The Robotic Rhinos went to visit the Star City Mega Nerds to help them get their robot game working, leading up to their qualifier in Blacksburg. We are always glad to mentor a fellow team.

We got to cheer them on in Blacksburg, too! We hung out with them when they queued and had lots of high-fives all around.

Do you need help getting a team launched? Please get in touch!
