Congrats to the Robotic Rhinos, Salem Montessori's FLL team, on a great season! They won first place in Martinsville, and had a great showing at the State Championship in Harrisonburg in December. Their EV3 robot scored 110 points in the robot game, which required careful building and programming.  |

It’s not just the robot! FLL teams develop a project related to this year’s theme, which was human water use. The team focused on the problem of soil salinization. Their proposed solution for this problem was to graft sensitive plants onto salt-resistant rootstock. We grafted plants, toured water treatment plants and a hydroelectric dam, and interviewed experts in person and over Skype.
